Thursday Thoughts

What makes you do the things you do?  No, not those mundane things in life.  I'm talking about creative things.  What inspires you to make that quilt?  Or knit that garment?  For me it's usually color.  If I'm really in love with the color of the fabric or yarn, I can't wait to find the perfect pattern and get down to work.

Over the last several years I've managed to amass a good sized collection of yarn that pulls me in so many directions.  I have yarn set aside for sweaters, 12 actually, and I have to put those projects off so I can knit for my business.  Torn.  It's now March and time to start cranking out goods for my Fall shows.  Every now and then, though, I'll sneak in something for me, me, me.

Once Kevin is done studying on my kitchen table (this has been going on for months now) I'll be able to get my sewing machine out and quilt a quilt top that I found last week when I was searching for the prizes for my giveaway.  I made that top at a mystery quilt day at least 10 years ago.  I like it even though it's square and I'm not sure what to do with it when it's done.  I suppose it will work great on my lap.  It's about 60" square and I'm only 58" tall!

So again, what inspires you to be creative?

For me, it is usually creating a gift for someone.

Or hang it on the wall.
