Security

I bet you think you're pretty smart, surfing around the Internet like a pro.  Have you given much thought to the passwords you use?  Here's a site that will check your email addresses to see if you've been compromised or not.  Pretty slick!  I checked all of mine and I'm safe and secure -- phew!

Sunday Evening Blues

I never seem to get as much done on the weekends as I hope.  I did manage to do a lot of tidying up -- cleaned my bedroom and organized all my wayward knitting needles.  Cleaned the kitchen table and washed the linens.  Washed the rugs from my room, the entry, and the bathroom.  Finished two earflap hats and started a third.

But still it seems likes there's so much to do.  There's always next weekend.

I did take some pictures of the weaving shuttles that my uber-talented brother in law Mike made for me:

He made them from walnut and showed me how to oil them -- something that will keep them in fabulous condition for years to come.

Mike is also a very talented photographer.  He takes workshops and continues to perfect his craft.  Right now he's down in Atlanta, photographing the PGA tournament.  Next up is a trip to Iceland next month to shoot the Northern Lights.  Do yourself a favor and visit his website to see more of his outstanding work.

Ready for the Weekend

After a crazy, long, stressful week at work I'm so ready for the weekend.  Laundry is caught up, finished knitting and washing a new ear-flap hat and now I've started a second hat.  Time to get cranking with shows starting in 6 weeks.

Holly is due in just 4 weeks!!!  So hard to believe my baby is having a baby.  I know, she's 28 years old but she's still my baby.  She will be a great mom.  She's a teacher so she has that mentality -- you know what I mean.

Kevin helped a friend whose car was hit on I-75 today.  Now he's at the Kid Rock concert at Comerica Park, courtesy of the friend.  I'm going to bed soon and I'll have to hear all about it tomorrow.

Plenty of yard work awaits me this weekend but the weather is not sounding too good for that.  Guess I'll just have to knit instead.  All together now - aaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Miss you Dad

Two years have passed since my Dad died.  I miss him all the time.  Maybe not every day like I thought I would because life gets in the way sometimes.  Work, kids, house, friends and just life in general can distract me and cause me to forget even for a moment, just how much I miss him.  I miss talking sports with him, watching Wings or Tigers games together, treating him to his favorite foods (like chocolates), scratching his back, and just sharing my life with him.  Nothing in the world would make me happier than to have him back in my life again.  But I relish the thought that he left peacefully and without any drama.  I know he's cold in the ground but I still talk to him when I visit his grave, like I did today after work.  I reminisced about the times we spent together - ice skating at Mud Lake, swimming at Metro Beach, visiting Cedar Point, Bob-Lo, the Detroit Zoo, or just hanging out at our house.  I much prefer those memories to the ones of him in the hospital.  Love you Dad. XOXOXO

Long Day

I started work today at 6:45 am and finished up at 9:10 pm.  I'm bushed.  But I'm happy because even though I was there forever I managed to get all my work done in preparation of a critical deadline on Friday.  Phew!  No thanks to my wacky 'partner' who still can't get my name right.

I thought I straightened her out on Monday when she called me Christine while we were instant messaging.  I called her out on it and you know what she said?  Sorry, Christine was on her last team, and she missed her.  Really???

You may think that's the end of it but NO!  Today while we were on a call together with our bosses, onsite and offshore teams, she did it again......  Can you say 'hopeless'????

I'm tossing back a nice glass of Malbec and calling it a night.

Doggone It

I stayed late at work today and when I got home I only had 15 minutes to make something to eat for dinner before rushing off to the GLHQ board meeting.  No time to heat up the oven or do anything fancy.  I cut up a zucchini and yellow squash and sauteed them in some olive oil and fresh ground salt and pepper.  This was in anticipation of tossing a little grana padano cheese on top as a treat.

Bleh!  This was my container of cheese, tucked in the back of the fridge:

Darn, darn, darn!  No cheese for me!!  Dejected but still famished, I ate my cooked squash and headed off for my board meeting.

I'll be tossing out that cheese with the garbage this week and picking up a new jar ASAP.  Hopefully I'll actually get to eat some.

She Did it Again

Remember how on Friday I wrote about my woes at work?  Today I got an email from my new 'partner' who was replying to an email I sent her on Friday.  Here's how it began:  'Thanks Christine.'  Yep, once again she called me Christine.  Where in the world is that coming from?  Tomorrow I'll have to set her straight.

Today my boss, just back from a 2 week vacation to Alaska, held a meeting for my team to see how things are going with the new consultants and if there are any risks.  I let my co-worker Diala speak first and luckily she's having a little bit easier time with her new 'partner' than I am.  When it came to my turn I started with 'I don't know where to begin.'  In as diplomatic a way as humanly possible, I spilled my guts.  It wasn't pretty.  I told him how I was near tears trying to figure how it was going to work, going backwards after all the progress we had made.  I let him know I felt the project was in jeopardy of not meeting deadlines and sliding backwards.  I think he had an inkling that my gal wasn't going to work out.  He's going to have a talk with the boss of the new consultants and we're meeting tomorrow to discuss our roles and responsibilities, something I kept reiterating was lacking on their end.

No doubt this will make things uncomfortable and no doubt she will be calling me something besides Christine.......
