No Pics Today

I spent a perfectly terrific sunshine-y day knitting away on a couple of hats.  I finished one and nearly finished the second.  I promise pictures will be posted tomorrow.  It will be another great day for March in Michigan.

I wanted to share a special blog I came across via Ravelry today.  You really need to read this post.  I found it really uplifting and amazing.  I think some of my knitting friends need to crank out the hat and sock patterns found at the bottom of that post.  Any takers??

I'm still battling some kind of wheezy-coughy-achy thing so I'm off to bed soon.  Hope I'm better tomorrow -- having a birthday dinner with Mom, Holly and Kevin.  Glad I took the day off -- hoping to get my taxes some crafty stuff done tomorrow.

Two Words....

...can fix almost any case of the blues:  Retail Therapy.
I cured my blues today by going on a yarn shop hop, visiting four of my local stores.  I spread the money around fairly evenly between PK Yarn over Knit, Gail's Darn Yarn, The Knitting Room (where I got my 20% off birthday month discount) and Right off the Sheep.  I knit with the ladies at Right off the Sheep, finishing up my Purple/Green Rose Hill Hat ~~
Now I've moved on to another Button Hat, which I should finish tomorrow morning.  I've got more pictures to take and post on Sunday, including the finished Possum Scarf and One Row Lace Scarf.
I'm off to find some Nyquil -- gotta quiet this terrible cough I've had for three days so I can get some sleep.

Firsts

Today after a long commute due to an accident on the freeway I arrived home, set my coat and purse aside and looked through the mail.  Ordinarily my mail does not bring me to tears but today it did.  I received an early birthday card from my Mom.  Now why would that make me cry?  Because this is the first year that it's signed 'Love, Mom' and not 'Love, Mom and Dad'.

Thursday Thoughts

What makes you do the things you do?  No, not those mundane things in life.  I'm talking about creative things.  What inspires you to make that quilt?  Or knit that garment?  For me it's usually color.  If I'm really in love with the color of the fabric or yarn, I can't wait to find the perfect pattern and get down to work.

Over the last several years I've managed to amass a good sized collection of yarn that pulls me in so many directions.  I have yarn set aside for sweaters, 12 actually, and I have to put those projects off so I can knit for my business.  Torn.  It's now March and time to start cranking out goods for my Fall shows.  Every now and then, though, I'll sneak in something for me, me, me.

Once Kevin is done studying on my kitchen table (this has been going on for months now) I'll be able to get my sewing machine out and quilt a quilt top that I found last week when I was searching for the prizes for my giveaway.  I made that top at a mystery quilt day at least 10 years ago.  I like it even though it's square and I'm not sure what to do with it when it's done.  I suppose it will work great on my lap.  It's about 60" square and I'm only 58" tall!

So again, what inspires you to be creative?
