The sun is shining brightly, so far, today. I was reading emails at my computer when I heard Maggie start barking. Nothing new, but I wanted her to be quiet, figuring she was barking at the next door neighbor. No, she was barking at this:
The ambulance was picking up my elderly neighbor Jessica. It wasn't like a hospital run -- no EMS, fire truck, or police car came.
Jess is about 85 years old and is originally from England -- she still has her lovely accent. She was widowed about 5 years ago when her husband died from Alzheimer's disease. I haven't spotted her out of the house for a couple of weeks.
As the attendants rolled her out to the ambulance she didn't have a mask on or any IVs so I wonder about her health. She's been walking with the assistance of a cane lately and I saw her daughter-in-law carry a folding walker out of the house. Maybe she fell? I've been worried about her but she still shoveled the snow from her sidewalk this past Winter and hauls her own garbage out to the curb.
I hope that's not the last I've seen of Jess. She would often come over to visit with me while I knit on my front porch. I haven't done that all Spring. Weaving is keeping me indoors these days.
Thoughts and prayers for your neighbour
